FOALS
Birth: Ensure adequate colostrum (have blooded pulled for IgG, > 24 hrs. of age) 2% iodine cord Tetanus antitoxin if mare has not been immunized 30 days prior
Within 24 Hours: 1 L Rhodococcus Equi plasma if susceptible
12 Weeks: EWT; West Nile vaccines
16 Weeks: EWT; West Nile boosters; Rabies vaccine
8 Months: Flu/Rhino
Foals should be dewormed every 30 days beginning at 6 weeks of age. Do not use Ivermectin until 6 months of age.
ADULTS
Rotate dewormers every 6-8 weeks
West Nile vaccine once annually
Flu/Rhino 2 times per year
EWT - 6 months - 1 year
Strangles if susceptible; effectiveness is questionable
Rabies once per year
PREGNANT MARES
Pneumabort - K 5,7,9 months of pregnancy
EWTF 2 times per year (once 30 prior to foaling)
West Nile once 30 days prior to foaling
Rotate dewormers every 6-8 weeks
